Northam Platinum in wage deal with NUM

South Africa’s National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) said on Thursday it had reached a two-year wage agreement with miner Northam Platinum, averting a possible strike.

NUM negotiatior Eddie Majadibodu told Reuters that the agreement was for nine percent increases across the board for both years. The inflation rate is currently running at six percent. – Reuters
